Congratulations to Mike Carpenter who is the inaugural winner of the IPMS Willow Run Bomber Model of the Month. His model, an Alfa Romeo 8C is from a 1970's vintage Pocher kit given to him by a friend who was moving out of state. Photos can't begin to describe the detail in this kit. There are over 1400 parts with the majority in metal including over 800 in brass. Mike says that the wheels took over 10 hours each to construct, having 5 layers of wire to capture the exact layering and bend of the spokes. The engine is a masterpiece of engineering as each piston operates within the cylinder with a turn of the engine crank. Suspension and steering systems are fully operational and you could probably put gas (petrol) in the tank! It took Mike 75 hours to complete this beauty which included 5 layers of Sunrise red paint.
